The Foundation is Kenneth “Coach Ken” LeGrice personified - dedication, loyalty, hard work, putting others first and community over self.
To understand this organization, one should appreciate the man who served as its inspiration. The values mentioned above barely scratch the surface of Coach Ken and what he meant to those around him.
What does the name Ken Le Grice mean to people? Naturally, different things to different people - a loving husband, father, brother, grandfather, friend, confidant, and coach. These words may seem simple but, to the people in Ken's life, those words were and continue to be, so much more. Regardless of which role he played in their lives, everyone in Coach Ken’s life can agree on (at least) two facts - he was loved and he is missed dearly.
Ken Le Grice was a 38-year Police Veteran, 35 of which were with the Brockton Police Department, proudly serving his community. The majority of his career was in the Detective Unit eventually working his way up to Chief of Detectives.
His service to the community did not stop at the Police Department. In his spare time, he earned the name “Coach.” Coach Ken began his softball journey coaching Little League, moving on to high school, and finishing his coaching career at Stonehill College.
Throughout his journey, he made sure no child who wanted to play softball was left behind. He would pick up kids who didn’t have rides; help with the associated costs for families unable to afford it and make sure they were the best players and people they could be. He never once boasted or even mentioned what he did to go above and beyond for these families. His friends and family only began to learn of the help he bestowed upon so many others after his passing. Because Coach Ken didn’t do it for the accolades - he did it for the love of people and the love of the sport. This amazing spirit and generosity is what made him Coach Ken.
